Fiji elections on September 17

Fiji President Ratu Epeli Nailatikau has signed off September 17, 2014 as Fiji’s election day. Minister responsible for elections and Attorney General, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum made the declaration today in Suva. He also announced changes to the Political Parties Decree and the Electoral Voter Registration Decree. The Acting Permanent Secretary responsible for elections and registrar of political parties, Mohammed Saneem, is the supervisor of elections. An Australian national has been appointed the deputy supervisor of elections. This will be Fiji’s first democratic election since the 2006 coup.
