The Pacific Institute of Public Policy (PiPP) is committed to ensuring personal details are protected when visitors and members use our websites or subscribe to our mailing lists.
Any personal information we gather about any individual will not be disclosed to third parties and will be kept in accordance with international privacy principles. Be aware that PiPP's website may contain external links. We do not accept any liability for the use of third party websites nor do we warrant their privacy practices.
What information do we collect?
You may voluntarily subscribe to any of our mailing lists, post a comment to a blog, complete an online survey or poll, or contact us using an online form, in which case we may collect any of the following information:
- name, organisation and job title
contact information, including email address, street address, post code, etc.
- preferences and interests

- other information relating to user surveys
- 
employment history, education, skills and references (if applying for a position or placement at PiPP).
Web statistics and cookies
Additionally, when you visit our site, traffic log cookies may automatically identify which pages are being used. This helps us analyse data about webpage traffic and improve our website in order to tailor it to customer needs. We only use this information for statistical analysis purposes. The following details may be collected about any computer used to access our web site:
- your server address
- your top level domain name (for example .com, .gov, .au etc)
- the pages you accessed and documents downloaded

- the previous sites you have visited
the type of browser you are using.

No attempt will be made by PiPP or its agents to identify users or their browser activity except, in the unlikely event of an investigation, where a law enforcement agency may exercise a warrant to inspect the Internet Service Provider’s logs. 
You can choose to accept or decline cookies. Most web browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can usually modify your browser setting to decline cookies if you prefer. This may prevent you from taking full advantage of the website.
Use and disclosure of information
We will not sell or otherwise pass on any personal information to third parties unless we have your permission or disclosure. In some instances, however, we may use third parties to process your information. On these occasions, we will require that these third parties comply strictly with our policy and will prohibit the use of your personal information for their own business purposes.
Information volunteered by you, such as e-mail address, name, address and telephone number, is used only for the purpose for which it was disclosed.
We may use the information collected to:
- Periodically send you email announcements about new publications, meetings or other information you may find interesting
- Pass to a selection panel for consideration (in case of job applications)
- Contact you for service administration (e.g. if you have forgotten your password)
- Invite you to participate in research or attend an event.
Secure transmission and storage
There are security risks in transmitting information across the Internet. We take every reasonable precaution to keep all information and transactions secure but cannot provide an absolute guarantee of data security.
Accessing personal details
You may request details of any personal information held about you. A small fee may be payable. Any request should be made in writing to the Pacific Institute of Public Policy, PMB 9034, Port Vila, Vanuatu.

If you have previously submitted your name and email address to receive our newsletters or join any of our mailing lists and wish to unsubscribe, please send an email (from the registered address) with "UNSUBSCRIBE" in the subject to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
