China and the BRICS economies provides an opportunity for a region to redefine its economic purpose and identity, and assert itself in the global market as a region that prioritizes ecological biodiversity and climate policy, and can integrate itself as a gateway alongside Asia and Latin America, rather than a country road annexed to the US and Australia.
